Most marble comes from Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and China. Marble is bright, elegant, and adds character to any room. All marble countertops should be handled with grace as they are much softer than other natural stone, and can scratch, stain, etch, and burn if not properly cared for.

Granite is a natural stone, quarried from large igneous stone deposits found around the world. The stone is naturally quite rough and textured, but when it is ground and polished during the countertop manufacturing process, it takes on a smooth surface with rich luster. Granite as a natural stone has an incredible variety of colors and patterns due to the way it is formed. Available in light and dark shades, and everything in between, granite adds a beautiful natural element to any home design.

Quartzite is an abundant metamorphic rock. It occurs naturally
when sandstone or chert rich in quartz experiences heat and
high pressure. All quartzites are made of 100% minerals and
are purely a product of nature. It is even harder than granite and takes us a little longer to fabricate than granite or other natural stones. It is truly the best of all worlds when all things are considered. Quartzite is 100% natural and comes directly from the earth.

Quartz countertops are man-made engineered stone
countertops formed by combining around 90 percent ground
quartz (a natural hard mineral) with eight to 10 percent resins, polymers, and pigments. Quartz kitchen
countertops are nonporous, so they don't need sealing like
granite or marble do. This also means quartz does not get
water stains easily. In addition, quartz does not scratch easily

Dolomite is definitely a great option for those willing to use marble, and it inconsiderably more resistant to scratches than that stone. However, don’t expect it to be almost scratch-proof like granite and quartzite, you will still need to be careful. Dolomite countertops will be scratched by glass and metal, so cutting boards should never be dismissed, and you need to be careful when handling silverware on it.
